Q: Hi, Anna! Can you tell us a bit about your role at Compass Legal Marketing (CLM) and what led you to join our team?
A: I’m a senior account director at CLM, working on client accounts for law firms of various sizes. What drew me to CLM was the opportunity to work with a strong team of legal marketers working collaboratively, rather than operating as a solo marketer at a firm. I also wanted to be part of a women-owned company, and it has been a great experience so far.
Q: What one piece of advice would you give to law firms about their marketing?
A: Don’t be afraid to try something different and showcase your firm’s culture and what makes your firm unique. Being open to a bit more creativity and expression can significantly enhance your firm’s marketing efforts.
Q: What are some recent trends in law firm marketing?
A: Many firms are elevating their social media presence by posting substantive blog content on platforms like LinkedIn and discussing diversity and current events. Additionally, there is a growing trend of law firms treating their marketing efforts as an investment, similar to technology or infrastructure. Firms that collaborate with marketers who understand their specific needs will see tangible results.
Q: What keeps you inspired in your work at CLM and what do you enjoy working on the most?
A: I am inspired by our clients, who are often mid-sized firms willing to try new approaches. It’s exciting to help them highlight what sets them apart. I enjoy working on website and graphic design, writing, and storytelling–helping firms convey their narratives in empowering ways.
Q: What’s something clients might not know about you?
A: I have a background in painting and fine arts, and I also practice capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian martial art.
Q: How would your closest friends describe you in 3 words?
A: Loyal, creative and smart.
Q: How do you relax and recharge?
A: I love gardening, especially during the North Carolina summers when everything is in bloom. Spending time watering, weeding and seeing what’s growing is very relaxing. I also enjoy spending time with my family, painting and drawing. With two small children, it’s a bit harder to travel these days, but I’m trying!
